Hawk Lake Dinner BuffetAs expected in a lodge of this quality, the choices are numerous and the meals are superb. Great care is taken in preparation and serving. The atmosphere is warm, casual and intimate. The food, prepared to order, is plentiful and inviting. While other lodges have cooks, we have a chef. Our head chef Jim MacDiarmid has been cooking for over 40 years at high end resorts throughout North America and loves to employ locally grown and organic foods in his cooking, and his soups and homemade salads are nothing short of amazing.

Breakfast

Served from 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.

The breakfast bar features fresh fruit, hot and cold cereals, biscuits, sausage gravy, fruit juices, yogurt and sweet rolls. Our chef’s daily specials include your choice of eggs any way you like them, omelets, pancakes, waffles, french toast, bacon, sausage, potatoes, toast or English muffins.

For the very avid anglers, we offer a “to go” breakfast (delivered to your cabin the night before) consisting of juice, egg, ham and cheese muffin, cold cereal, milk and sweet roll to allow you an early morning start on the water.

Lunch

Shore LunchYou can return to the lodge for soup, sandwich and fresh salad or if you prefer to stay on the water (it can be tough to get away from a great day of fishing) you have several choices. The first options is for us to prepare a packed picnic lunch for you. With a plethora of choice for your soup, sandwich, salad, fresh fruit, chips, cookies, and cold drinks, you will always have a delicious meal to enjoy while fishing. Another option is a shore lunch (pictured above), to complete the Canadian fishing experience. No trip is complete without at least one hot lunch cooked over an open fire! We will provide all of the utensils and goodies for a delicious meal. Your easily portable shore lunch kit will include fresh walleye fillets (we provide locally harvested fresh fish as we are catch and release exclusively) and all the accouterments including onions, potatoes, beans, corn, fresh lemon, fruit, cookies and a variety of spices as well as oil, all of the necessary utensils, and firewood. With many already established fire pits along the shore and an abundance of clearings and islands along the lake, you can stop whenever you’re hungry, build a small fire and cook a delicious, hot meal to your liking.

Pre-dinner Social Hour

From 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Social Hour

Hors d’oeuvres are served on the lodge decks along with free cocktails, beer, or your preference of alcoholic beverage. Mingle with your hosts and other guests and share some of the day’s excitement, great fish stories and hot spots of the day. This is also a great time to pick up some fishing tips and hear about the most current fishing conditions of the lakes! With 19 lakes to discuss and many guests that have been here for 25+ years, this time is sacred indeed.

Dinner EntreesDinner

Served at 6:00 p.m.

Start with homemade soup, breads and fresh salad each evening. Dinner entrees are served with fresh vegetables, potatoes, wild rice or pasta and come in both smaller and larger portions. Finish your meal with a selection of desserts- including cheesecake, brownies, pies and a Hawk Lake Lodge favorite, Saskatoon berry sorbet, along with many other delicious treats- offered each evening.

A varied menu with many options is offered for your enjoyment. If you have special requests or dietary requirements, with a bit of advance notice we can meet your needs. As some of our entrees are more adult palate oriented, we also offer children’s menus or prearranged meals for especially picky eaters. 

Dinner selections are prepared by our chefs. All are home made with local ingredients and suppliers.

    Chicken pieces baked in a rich sauce of dried plums, olives and capers.

    Succulent bison short ribs with hints of bourbon and coffee with a little kick from chipotle peppers.

    Roasted turkey breast stuffed with cranberry pear (or seasonal fruit) compote.

  • Mediterranean Lamb Shanks
    Tender lamb braised in red wine and rosemary.
  • NY Striploin Steak with Mushrooms
    10oz hand cut steak with sautéed mushrooms in red wine shallot reduction.
  • Shrimp Linguine Primavera
    Jumbo shrimp tossed with pasta in a light herb sauce with seasonal vegetables.
  • Chicken Apricot
    Boneless chicken breast stuffed with apricots, feta cheese and toasted pinenuts with mint pesto on the side.
  • Quebec Duck Chops
    Roasted duck breast chops with a pomegranate glazed served with braised apples 
  • Pork Tenderloin Saltimbocca
    Roasted pork tenderloin wrapped in sage and prosciutto 
  • If you prefer to fish later in the evening, as the bite is just too hard to resist, no problem. We will gladly deliver your meal to you in your cabin and you can eat at your leisure.

Children’s Menu

For those with children that may not be in the mood for more adult orientated fare we have a wide selection of kid friendly meals that will keep them coming back for seconds and the entire clan fully satisfied. From homemade pizza, burgers and fries, to macaroni with cheese, fresh cut chicken tenders, quesadillas, spaghetti and meatballs and teriyaki chicken. If your little ones have anything they can’t live without just give us a little heads up and we’ll do our best to make sure everyone goes to bed happy!
